It was an experience of a lifetime for a number of children in the BBBSG programs who got to experience, first-hand, breathing underwater at a scuba event that the agency provided in partnership with the Tri-City Scuba Centre on October 19 at the West End Community Centre in Guelph. Eight children participated in the afternoon program, completing their “Discover Scuba” certification while learning about wearing and moving underwater in scuba equipment, breathing underwater using an oxygen tank, and learning basic safety skills and best practices. The event was funded through the generous donations from a number of agency supporters who provided their gifts throughout the year to fully fund the initiative. We look forward to providing future unique opportunities such as this in the future, offering BBBSG youth these special outings supported by our loyal donors.
