Fundraising Event Assistant
Event Development – Summer Position

Anticipated Start Date: Monday, May 26th, 2025
Anticipated End Date: Friday, July 18th, 2025
Rate of Pay: $18.20 per hour, 35 hours per week x 8 weeks

A day in the life of a Fundraising Event Assistant involves:

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with community partners
  • Working closely with the fundraising team
  • Thinking innovatively of ways community partners can get involved with the event/campaign
  • Working toward achieving personal and agency goals
  • Participating in staff socials and engagements with the BBBSG team

Position Responsibilities

Reporting to the Fund Development Coordinator; the Fundraising Event Assistant will be responsible for tasks including:

  • Assisting and coordinating development for BBBSG events; Big Little Run on Sunday, June 8th, Golf Fore Kids’ Sake on Tuesday, June 24th and Little Change for BIG Change campaign
  • Assist in planning, day-of-event help and evaluation of event
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, volunteer training and event-day volunteer management
  • Create a new fundraising project to include in the LCBC campaign (past years have included lemonade stand competitions, paint nights, bottle drives and BIG Kick-A-Ton)
  • Provide support with community relations/promotions
  • Assist with social media promotion and marketing
  • Solicit donations for event auction procurement
  • Maintain communication with participating organizations by phone, email, or text
  • Undertake office tasks such as photocopying and data entry

This position will require both remote work and in-office work, depending on government and public health guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary student, with focus on Marketing, Volunteer Management or Project Coordination
  • Strong computer skills: word processing, email and Internet systems, working in a MS Office environment; experience with graphic design considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and assume responsibility with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Interest and knowledge of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph
  • Resourceful, creative and detail oriented
  • Excellent telephone manner and speaking voice
  • Experience working with social media tools, including Facebook, Instagram
  • Have access to a vehicle
  • Evening and Weekend work is required

This position is funded by the Ministry of Employment and Social Development through Canada Summer Jobs.
