Casework Assistant (Summer Youth Position)

Rate of Pay: $18.20 per hour, 35 hours per week x 8 weeks

Position Description
The Casework Assistant position is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience in the not-for-profit and social service field. The Casework Assistant will work with the entire casework team, reporting to the Casework Manager. The main focus this summer will be on supporting caseworkers in their roles, often by writing case notes and reports. In addition, the successful candidate will help plan and run events for groups, matches, and families. This position may require both remote work and in-office work.
Responsibilities
• Write case notes, interview summaries, and other reports
• Complete casework administrative tasks, such as opening and closing files, file audits
• Office tasks such as photocopying and data entry
• Research best-practices and age-appropriate programming to help with future program planning
• Assist with purchasing supplies and re-stocking program bins
• Assist in onboarding new families and children into the Community-based program
• Assist with Volunteer intake and screening
• Aid in the recruitment of volunteers
Qualifications
• Must be considerate of diversity and confident in working with vulnerable populations. A clear vulnerable sector check is required.
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work efficiently, independently, and as part of a team
• Must be flexible and able to work with ambiguity (every day might be different and students might not know what they will be doing until arriving that day).
• Experience with children/youth/families is an asset
• Experience in an office environment is an asset
This position is funded by the Ministry of Employment and Social Development through Canada Summer Jobs. As such, the following is required of the applicant: must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and; is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
