Fundraising Event Assistant
Big Little Run – Summer Position
Anticipated Start Date: Monday, May 13, 2024
Anticipated End Date: Friday, July 5, 2024
Rate of Pay: $17.55 per hour, 35 hours per week x 8 weeks

Position Responsibilities
Reporting to the Fund Development & Communications Coordinator; the Fundraising Event Assistant will be responsible for tasks including:
• Assist in planning a 5K race, a 10K race, and a Half-Marathon on June 23, 2024
• Assist with volunteer recruitment, volunteer training and event-day volunteer management
• Provide support with community relations/promotions
• Assist with social media promotions
• Plan and execute event day activities
• Solicit prizes
• Complete office tasks such as photocopying and data entry
This position will require both remote work and in-office work, depending on government and public health guidelines
Qualifications
• Post-secondary student, with focus on Marketing, Volunteer Management or Project Coordination
• Strong computer skills: word processing, email and Internet systems, working in a MS Office environment; experience with graphic design considered an asset
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and assume responsibility with minimal supervision
• Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
• Interest and knowledge of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph
• Resourceful, creative and detail oriented
• Excellent telephone manner and speaking voice
• Experience working with social media tools, including Facebook, Instagram• Have access to a vehicle
• Evening and Weekend work is required
This position is funded by the Ministry of Employment and Social Development through Canada Summer Jobs. As such, the applicant: is between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and; is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
